Hard to take much from spring training but if there’s any time to do it it’s when you see a guy crush a pretty good offspeed pitch in a 1-2 count dead center.
Most homers seem like fastballs right down the middle as pitchers are just stretching their arms out but this is not that.
Like we know Murakami can hit fastballs so him crushing one right down the middle doesn’t answer much but being able to hit this out is more impressive imo

The question with Japanese hitters from what I’ve read and the data on it, is can they hit velocity.
That’s not something they see so often in Japan, pitchers regularly pumping 95+.
Okamato rates decently on that so he projects reasonably well. It’s got the largest correlation with success in coming to MLB.

Who knows what kind of season he puts up, but I was kinda mad when the Blue Jays got Okomoto. Adding another good defending, high contact hitter with solid pop just continues to strengthen what made them so special last year.
He could very well put up “meh” outcomes, but his skillset checks all the Blue Jays boxes. As a fan of a team trying to win the AL, that’s pretty frustrating.
