2026年3月29日（現地時間）、シカゴ・カブスのホームグラウンド、リグレー・フィールドでナショナルズとの開幕第3戦が行われました。先発を任された今永昇太、初回にジョーイ・ウィーマーに3ランを浴びていきなり0-3のビハインドを背負うことに。しかし以降は踏ん張りを見せ、5回2/3で7奪三振（82球）という内容で粘投。カブスも4回にブレグマン・ハップの連続本塁打で追い上げたものの、最終スコアは3-6で敗戦、開幕シリーズを1勝2敗で終える結果となりました。

They were definitely testing him with how many jams he got into. With how hard he says he is on himself gotta appreciate that he beared down and kept this one within reach. All in all an okayish start. The velo and swing and miss show some hope for him.

Yeah, I think the amount of hard contact has been a positive so far. I haven’t seen any stats yet, but it feels like a majority of the regulars have had a decent amount of hard contact over the series.

Shōta was fine and even downright good for most of his outing. His stuff was on. Unfortunate bloop contact sequence for Wiemer’s HR to be a crooked number.
Cubs had some nice hard contact that went right at gloves. Shit sucks, but happens.
