・アンダーソンがパイプ攻撃で試合を決める。日本はフットフォルトでチャレンジするも認められず（15-13）
「パイプ攻撃」はコート中央のバックローから放つバックアタック。相手ブロッカーの狙いを絞りにくい攻撃パターン。
Thanks for breakdown. Thats a disappointing series of points for japan. I was hoping nishida could ride the momentum after finally getting the break back. I also think champlin’s ace was decision making error by japan, but it was a tough call. I didnt see the block nor the pipe attack
解説サンキュー。日本にとっては本当に悔しい一連のポイントだね。せっかくブレイクを取り返した流れに西田が乗ってくれると思ってたんだけどな。シャンプランのエースも日本側の判断ミスだった気がするけど、難しい場面ではあった。ブロックもパイプ攻撃も見れなかったのが心残り
Nishida was actually subbed out after his service error and was never subbed back in, which I think is a shame because even at backrow, he’s still such a lethal offensive threat.

Ishikawa and Takahashi had uncharacteristically slow starts but were otherwise able to score in key moments with both scoring against triple blocks in set 4 and making up for the early service faults.
石川と高橋は珍しく立ち上がりが重かったけど、それ以外の場面ではしっかり得点を重ねていた。2人とも4セット目にはトリプルブロックの上から決めていて、序盤のサーブミスの分を取り返していたね

Japan really need to work on their serving. They have some players capable of producing incredible serves, but the consistency just isn’t there.
On the other hand, the USA were absolute beasts from the service line. Almost every serve into Japan’s court was either an ace or disruptive enough to prevent Japan from setting up a proper attack. The fact that Japan still managed to keep the match so close despite that just shows how incredible their defense is.

一方で米国のサーブは化け物だった。日本コートに入るほぼ全部のサーブがエースか、少なくとも日本にまともな攻撃を組ませないほど厄介な一本だった。それでもここまで接戦に持ち込んだんだから、日本の守備がどれだけ凄いかって話でもある
フローターサーブ（回転をかけずに軌道を揺らすサーブ）は威力より制球のコントロールが難しく、この試合では両者の差がはっきり出た。

Fukatsu’s float serve into the net on the first point of set 5 was terrible. Made the momentum feel like japan was playing from behind the entire set even though it was on serve

Changing nishida was a mistake. I feel like Yamamoto would have done better with the speed the US possess. But a great match, just sad that Japan didn’t win.

yes exactly, i’m not sure why they kept switching fukatsu and nishida with eiro and miyaura near the end of the sets. to me it seemed like they were doing fine, is it the extra height they want with eiro or something?
そうそれ、終盤で深津と西田をエイロや宮浦にわざわざ替え続けてた理由がよく分からない。普通に機能してるように見えたんだけど、エイロの高さが欲しかったとかそういう話なのかな？
They did the double sub because both Anderson and Robinson were just hitting above Fukstsu whenever he’s in the front row and it’s automatic point for the US. It’s really hard to defend. The double sub made sense because it forced both US OHs to hit elsewhere.
あのダブル交代は、深津が前衛にいるとアンダーソンとロビンソンがその上からほぼ自動的に決めてしまっていたから。守るのが本当に難しい状況だった。米国の両サイドに深津以外の場所を叩かせるという意味では、あの交代は理にかなってたと思う
Japan’s last serve was symbolic evidence for that. If you serve a free ball over at 13-14, you deserve to lose.

I kept telling my friends Japan mistake was never losing in the preliminary rounds. Trying to go perfect is an insane task. With every win, the pressure just builds and the spotlight on you is bigger each time. I would have been happy if they lost one match to take that pressure off. Imagine having to go perfect WHILE trying to win your first ever Major Title. It would had made a hell of a Netflix documentary if they had pulled it off.
友達にずっと言ってたんだ、「日本の唯一のミスは予選で一度も負けなかったことだ」って。完璧を目指すのは正気の沙汰じゃない。勝つたびにプレッシャーは積み上がって、注目度もどんどん上がっていく。個人的には、どこかで一つ落として少しプレッシャーを抜いてほしかったくらいだ。初のメジャータイトルを狙いながら完全無敗を目指すなんて。もしそれをやり切ってたら、とんでもないNetflixドキュメンタリーになってただろうな
