I was so sad after the 2nd set this morning, and then I looked at the time left and I’m like…. 3 hours…. Hmmmmm do we get another Japanese, “this is how it always is!” classic?! 100% coach maximizing everyone’s abilities – it was insane. He knows his players SO well that he can counter everything. This VNL shows what japan is capabable. I believe the longer a match goes the higher the chance is for japan to win. Their resilience, defense and bounce back potential is insane. No other national team is capabable of doing that. Heck even Club teams aint doing that.
今回のVNLは日本の本当の力を見せている。試合が長引けば長引くほど、日本の勝率が上がっていくと思う。あの粘り、ディフェンス、そして立て直す力は異常だ。他のどの代表チームにもできない。いや、クラブチームだってできてない。

Ishikawa was truly unstoppable. Now that he has reached the ranks of the veterans, his ability to skillfully manage his physical condition is nothing short of remarkable. His chemistry with Fukatsu is perfect, too.

Much respect for Argentine to apparently fight with everything they got and have such an entertaining match but oh boy, Japan’s played so beautifully yet again and Ishikawa has played like himself, dissecting triple blocks after another. What a legend. I love this team.

I hope the Japanese finds a young incredible setter because the setting has always been the game changing in their campaign. Both Sekita and Fukatsu are not young anymore. Eiro still has difficulties with proper height and connection of the sets. Congratulations to the Japanese and I hope they make it until the gold medal match.

As a Japan fan I’m so happy to see players like Otsuka, Tomita and even Nishimoto get so much playing time and doing so well. This feels worlds apart from when they were playing in the VNL last year, you can see how much they have improved.

I don’t understand why Nishida isn’t playing as aggressively as he used to, especially compared with last season in the league. He had a kneecap injury but the staff said it was only a minor injury and I believe he has already recovered. Still, he doesn’t seem to be playing with the same aggression and intensity as before.
