They were visibly nervous and I could see they're not perfect, but I didn't care. Shoma and Marin are back with their artistry and wonderful skating, and that's enough to make me cry during the livestream 😭

目に見えて緊張していたし、完璧じゃないのも分かった。でもそんなことはどうでもいい。昌磨と真凜が、あの芸術性と素晴らしいスケーティングを引っ提げて帰ってきた。それだけで配信を見ながら泣いちゃったよ😭

I literally cried. I never followed figure skating when they were active singles skaters, but I’ve seen plenty of their performances. And I can see they have so much passion, ambition, and desire to skate. I’ll be cheering for them from now on

This was such a fun watch!!! I have never watched ice dance so I wasn't sure what to expect but wow they're great together!

Team Japan really is boiling the frog with me and ice dance. They're magnetic to watch, though even my novice eyes can tell they've got a lot of work to do.

What a gorgeous second lift. Golden waltz felt a little sloppy but they aren’t alone in that. Overall, I’m pretty impressed and I like how they brought some singles elements into this dance.

shoma has so much star power. i have never paid this much attention to a man in ice dance, and it has nothing to do with the fact that i knew it was him, his lines and movements almost overpower marin. rooting for them, but i think shoma will need to find a way to be more of a partner, and not just a dancer/skater.

昌磨のスター性がすごい。アイスダンスで男性の方にこんなに目が行ったのは初めて。彼だと知ってたからじゃなく、ラインと動きが真凜を食いかけてるくらい。応援してるけど、昌磨は一人のダンサーとしてだけじゃなく、もっと“パートナー”になる方法を見つける必要があると思う

Idk why, but that made me tear up a little! I think one of the benefits of them being similar in size is that they can make that really clear eye contact, and the way Shoma was looking at her was so gorg!!!! I don't think I've seen that connection from any team in a long time.

ugh they're everything. obviously there's room to improve. but they have chemistry, musicality, charisma. their passion so clearly shines through. they love each other. they love skating. and I love them!!!

The quad toe was beautiful 😂😂😂 I do think there is a lot to work on, but that's to be expected, and the charisma and chemistry are off the charts and I cannot wait for more from them.

I'm so happy they're back! They have always had wonderful artistry and it's translating to ice dance although they can grow a lot. Maybe it's the nerves but they looked quite slow, more so than in the clips from Shoma's ice shows. They should continue to improve over the season.

2人が戻ってきて本当に嬉しい！　ずっと素晴らしい芸術性を持っていたし、それがアイスダンスにも活きてる。伸びしろもまだまだある。緊張のせいかもしれないけど、昌磨のアイスショーの映像よりかなり遅く見えた。シーズンを通して良くなっていくはず

I really hope we get to see this program several times more - it really does seem like it will grow with them as they get through the new discipline jitters.

I love them so much, but they have GOT to get to a top ice dance coach ASAP. Barbara Fusar Poli would be ideal, since she led another height-challenged team and politicked for them successfully for many years. Plus, I don't think she has an active top team right now.

大好きだけど、一刻も早くトップのアイスダンスコーチに付かないと。バーバラ・フザール＝ポリが理想だと思う。身長面で不利な別のチームを何年も率いて、うまく立ち回って結果を出させてきた人だから。それに今は現役のトップチームを抱えてないはずだし

What place do they need to finish after the free dance to advance to nationals? Anyone know?

全日本に進むには、フリーダンス後に何位以内に入ればいいの？　誰か知ってる？

Their scores are comparable to what the lower ranked teams at grand prixs are getting, but JSF are not going to send them to an international competition this year because they decided to make the requirements super high. Hopefully next year though!

スコアはGPシリーズの下位チームと同じくらい。ただ日本スケート連盟が派遣基準をすごく高く設定したから、今季は国際大会には送ってもらえない。来年に期待！

Shomarin have insane charisma and following to be a formidable ice dance team, if only they improved their skills quickly enough. If this was previous years they’d probably even get politicked over Utamasa but right now Japan suddenly have quite a few ice dance teams around their level. I’m so curious how far they’ll go.

しょまりんにはとんでもないカリスマとファンがいる。技術さえ早く追いつけば、手強いアイスダンスチームになれる。数年前なら政治力で“うたまさ”より上に置かれてたかもしれないけど、今の日本には同じくらいのレベルのチームが急に何組も揃ってる。どこまで行けるのか興味津々

you guys... I can't believe marin is back on competitive ice, looking like a gorgeous freshly blooming flower. And Shoma back too as the most flowery of stems. They are just so beautiful together, I started tearing up. I hope they keep going for at least a couple more seasons, watching them gives me such joy.
